Professional Background and Achievements
Philosophy of Education
My approach to teaching transcends mere knowledge transfer, focusing instead on empowering students with critical thinking tools and emotional intelligence. I firmly believe that true education encompasses both intellectual development and character building. This holistic perspective has been shaped by my academic journey through Southwestern Illinois Junior College, where I earned an Associates of Arts degree, and the University of Minnesota, where I completed a Bachelor's degree in Business and Marketing Education.
Professional Experience at 21st Century Preparatory School
Over the past 13 years, I have served in diverse roles at 21st Century Preparatory School, including Educational Assistant, Physical Education Teacher, In-School Suspension Coordinator, Discipline Manager, and Athletic Coordinator. Throughout these varied positions, my consistent goal has been to instill core values of hard work, compassion, and mutual respect among students. Each role has provided unique opportunities to mentor and guide young individuals toward personal and academic growth.
Academic Credentials
My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Marketing Education from the University of Minnesota, complemented by an Associate of Arts Degree from Southwestern Illinois College. My academic concentration was primarily focused on business studies, providing a strong foundation for my professional career in education.
Athletic Achievements
My basketball career demonstrates a remarkable journey of dedication and excellence across multiple competitive levels. During high school, I achieved back-to-back state championships at St. Catherine's High School. My athletic prowess continued at the junior college level, where I was named Athlete of the Year in 2007-08. At the University of Minnesota, I played basketball from 2008-10 under Coach Tubby Smith and participated in the NCAA Tournament in both years. My professional career culminated with playing for Omonoia, a team in Nicosia Cyprus, from 2010-12.
These experiences have not only shaped my athletic skills, but also informed my approach to teaching, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and personal development.
