                                    We maintain a small teacher to student ratio by capping our class sizes at 20 in grades 4K through fourth grade, and 20 -25 in grades fifth through eighth. 
 
            
                
                    School Day and Mandatory Summer School
                 
                                    Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. We also have a mandatory, 20 day summer school session to prevent the summer slide in learning that can occur with a traditional school year. During summer school, students receive reading and math instruction until noon. From 12:00-1:15 p.m., students participate in enrichment activites, including cooking, gardening, games, kayaking, and much more.   
 
            
                
                    Science, Technology, Engineering, And Mathematics (STEM) Education
                 
                                    We now have a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) specialist. STEM class will be enhanced with our brand new Smart Lab. Students will have the opporunity to engage in STEM related activites in small groups throughout their time in class. 8th grade students also have the opportunity to be a part of a Media Productions class.   
 
            
            
                                    Since we are a public charter school, we follow the requirements for teacher certification as set by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. Teachers must continue their education and complete Professional Development Plans in order to stay certified. Additionally, our teachers follow the state Educator Effectiveness System to ensure quality teaching. 
 
            
            
                                    Children with physical, emotional, behavioral, sensory, and/or learning disabilities may need special education services and accommodations. As an independent charter school, 21st Century Preparatory School must provide the fundamentals of special education as defined in federal and state law. Special education services are provide within a model of full inclusion. 
 
            
                
                    Extracurricular Programming
                 
                                    We offer a variety of free after school enrichment programs including Chefs of Tomorrow Cooking Club, Art Club, and Forensics Club to name a few. Additionally, students have access to the National Junior Honor Society, the Racine-Kenosha English Festival, and Spelling Bee. We also offer after-school tutoring and Girl Scouts for girls in Kindergarten through fifth grade. In sixth through eighth grade, girls and boys can join sports team offered: basketball, volleyball, track and field, and cheerleading.    
 
            
            
                                    Parent involvement is a key compenet to a successful school experience for students. We offer monthly family engagement opporutnites for families. Our Parent Teacher Organziation (PTO) also meets the first Monday of each month from 3:45-5:00 PM to discuess happenings at the school and plan events. 
 
            
            
                                    The School collaborates with University of Wisconsin Parkside in staff development; Carthage College, Gateway Technical College,  University of Wisconsin Parkside in career development; and the United Way Advancing Family Asset Program and Focus on Community (FAST) for parent support.
