                                    Your child is considered truant when: 
He/she is absent for all or part of the school day, and you, as the parent/guardian, have not contacted the school with a reason as noted in the section “Excused Absences”He/she attends school irregularly but often enough that he/she is not in violation of state laws which require children to attend school A child is considered habitually truant if he/she misses a total of five (5) full or partial days without an excuse during a school semester. You will be notified if your child has five (5) unexcused absences in a semester. The notification will be in writing and sent by registered or certified mail. The notice will ask you to meet with the School Coordinator of Community Services within five (5) days. If you fail to meet with the Parent Liaison the school may take steps to impose penalties for failing to correct the truancy problem. These penalties include enforcement of state statutes and municipal codes such as referral to the District Attorney’s Office. |  |  |
