21st Century Becomes Energy Star School Challenge Participant

Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton announced that 21st Century Preparatory School District in Racine has accepted the Lt. Governor’s Energy Star School Challenge, a commitment to reduce energy consumption by ten percent.
“School districts are true leaders when it comes to energy efficiency,” Lawton said. “Tight budgets demand it. I am proud that the leaders of 21st Century Preparatory School District have accepted the challenge to be better stewards of taxpayer dollars and of the environment.
We are excited about becoming an Energy Star School Challenge district,” said 21st Century Preparatory Superintendent Robert Morelan. “Not only will we reap the financial benefit of saving dollars that would be committed to funding our energy costs, but also engaging our school to become more environmentally responsible. The Lieutenant Governor’s initiative is providing us with an opportunity for our students, staff, and parents to take an active role in conserving our natural resources. This is a positive step in the right direction and we look forward to the challenge of meeting and exceeding a 10% energy savings this coming school year. With the savings in energy costs, we intend to redirect these dollars into instructional programs for students.”

from John Brewer, PIE President:
"PIE has accomplished many great things over the past several years (e.g. hosting of school spirit week, picnics and teacher appreciation week; and funding for field trips, field trips and band equipment). We believe the time is right to enhance how we operate to make our organization even more effective."
From Mr. Pares, School Principal:
"We have a vibrant group of parents and I look forward to working together and building upon the foundation we have with our parent-teacher organization."
We will hold strategic planning sessions over the summer. The planning team will include parents, teachers and administration, and will develop a fresh strategy and approach to our organization. We will then hold officer elections in the fall. Therefore, the PIE officer elections previously scheduled for May are being postponed.
